New Payment Options Now Available for Your Clients If You Use Square
We’re excited to announce that your Client Portal now supports three new payment methods through your existing Square integration: Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Cash App Pay. These options appear automatically alongside the standard card payment form when your clients pay invoices online—no setup required on your end for most methods.
What Your Clients Will See
When a client opens the payment dialog, they’ll now see available wallet buttons above the familiar card form, separated by an “or pay with card” divider. The buttons that appear depend on the client’s device and browser:
- Google Pay: Shows up on Chrome and most Android browsers. Clients can pay with cards saved to their Google account in just a couple of taps.
- Apple Pay: Appears on Safari (Mac, iPhone, and iPad). Clients authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or their passcode for a fast, secure checkout.
- Cash App Pay: Displays a branded button that lets clients pay using their Cash App balance. On desktop, they scan a QR code; on mobile, it connects directly to their Cash App.
Action Items for You
IMPORTANT: If additional payment options (Google Pay, Apple Pay, CashApp) don’t show up on your digital invoice payment popup after you click on Pay Now, then you need to reconnect your Square account to ARI in Settings -> Online Payments -> Square first, then try again.
For the majority of users, these updates are seamless. Here is the breakdown of what you may need to do:
| Payment Method | Requirement | Action Needed |
| Google Pay | Automatic | None. |
| Apple Pay | Automatic | None. |
| Cash App Pay | Manual Enablement | May need to be enabled in your Square Dashboard under Settings → Payment Methods. (Note: Your Square account must be US-based.) |
Why This Matters
The best part? If a client’s device doesn’t support a particular method, it simply won’t appear. The standard card payment form always remains available as a reliable fallback, ensuring your existing payment flow is completely unchanged.
The Bottom Line: All payments, regardless of method, process through your Square account exactly as before. No new fees, no new reconciliation steps.
